Game Overview

Apocalypse Express is an action management Roguelike in which the player conducts, upgrades and repairs different parts of the train through endless waves of enemies in a post-apocalyptic setting. Departing the darkness of their lifelong shelter, the player decides to embark on a journey through the wasteland looking to fulfill the dream of seeing the outside world with their own eyes, charting out a map around the few remaining memories of the past world.

The game is a blend of Management - as you have to keep your train running by repairing and managing its various modules - and Action - while fending off the ever-increasing enemy waves trying to stop you in your tracks. Through various different modules and upgrades, the player can shift their playstyle creating exciting builds and combinations.

The key selling point of the game is this dynamic fusion of action and management and the fact that the game allows players to shift towards one or the other. With this blend of different gameplay styles we create an interesting flow of tension and relief, where the player is at one moment faced with overwhelming odds, after which comes a window of calm - a time to patch up and prepare for the next encounter. This rollercoaster of ease and danger feels extremely satisfying and rewarding for the player, making their journey through this dilapidated world unforgettable.

Project Info

The team has been working on the game in their spare time for about a year. But we don't plan on stopping. With the project now out in the public, we want to push ourselves to provide you with monthly builds enhanced with new features, upgrades, enemies, etc.
